Chuck Gaidica

Chuck Gaidica who stepped down as the chief weatherman for WDIV a year ago to concentrate on being a pastor of outreach at Oak Pointe Church in Novi, is returning to daily television.

WDIV reports that Gaidica will  co-host the station's entertainment and lifestyle morning show “Live in the D,” beginning on Sept. 28. His co-host will be Tati Amare, an award-winning host and producer based out of New York.

“Live in the D” premiered in August 2013 and  explores how culture, entertainment and lifestyle affects life in Metro Detroit, WDIV reports. Gaidica had been providing some content for the station on a part-time basis.

The show’s current hosts, anchor and reporter Guy Gordon and anchor and investigative reporter Karen Drew, will host the program through September.

"For the last two years, Karen and Guy have done such a great job launching ‘Live in the D’ and helping to make it a great reflection of the spirit of our community," said Marla Drutz, Vice President and General Manager of Local 4. “But we need their journalistic chops covering the hard news and supporting our all-important newscasts and web content.”

The Detroit Free Press reports that Gaidica will continue his part-time role at the church.

The show will air at 10 a.m. instead of its current slot of 11 a.m.
