At the urging of Royal Oak police, the Detroit rap group’s scheduled Oct. 31 concert has been canceled by the Royal Oak Music Theatre, Brian McCollum reports in the Free Press.

The show — ICP’s long-running annual Hallowicked event — will now play on the same night at the Fillmore Detroit.

In a memo asking theater officials to “consider cancelling this event,” Royal Oak Police Lt. Thomas Goad cited the FBI’s labeling of ICP fans as a gang in its 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment report.

“Our concern is based on the number of concerts, throughout the country, in which ICP followers have created significant problems for local police departments,” reads the memo, which was obtained by the Free Press.

A statement issued today by ICP called the cancellation “extremely disturbing.”
