Johnny Spirit, the unofficial Michigan State University mascot who wears green body paint and rides a bike around campus, had a brief encounter with Johnny Law in Pasadena Wednesday after the Spartans defeated Stanford.
According to the WLNS-TV website, fans tweeted photos of Spirit surrounded by police in riot gear at the Rose Bowl. He appeared to be handcuffed.
The pictures - one by Matt Sheehan and posted on Twitter (@mattsheehan333) and one by Debbie Henrie Parks (who happens to be the wife of 6 News Chief Photographer Dave Parks), show Spirit with his hands behind his back and surrounded by three people wearing uniforms and helmets.
Spirit, reached after the game, tells 6 News he had a pass to be on the field, which was taken away by an usher. That led to a run in with officers on the field after the game.
He was held about 30 minutes.
