Cops and firefighters in Detroit got militant Thursday.
They marched on city hall in the morning and gathered at a community meeting in the evening and shouted down Mayor Dave Bing and his staff.
In an overflowing auditorium, Bing heard shouts of booing, heckling and chants of "Liar! Liar!" that became what an aide told the Free Press was the most raucous public meeting of Bing's administration.
"I do understand," Bing began, but the crowd drowned him out with chants of "No, you don't! No, you don't!"
Earlier in the day, police officers marched past city hall carrying photos of colleagues killed in the line of duty.
Firefighters talked about deep cutbacks in the number of rigs in the city.
"You're trying to kill us," DFD Sgt. Jeff Urbas told Charlie LeDuff of Fox 2 Detroit.
