It sounds like some primitive ritual.
Hannah Saunders of Fox 2 reports that police are investigating allegations that members of the Grosse Ile High School boy's lacrosse team killed a guinea pig before a home game last week against the Dexter Deadnoughts and painted themselves with its blood.
Fox 2 reports that the school has suspended future games while police investigate at least 10 of the 18 members of the team for animal cruelty.
The superintendent, Joanne Lelekatch, said in a statement, according to Fox 2:
"In cases involving these circumstances, our first priority is to ensure that law enforcement has access to the information it needs to conduct its investigation...Once law enforcement has completed its investigation, we will be in a position to assess the facts and circumstances and, if necessary, apply our student or athletic handbooks."
