Detroit Institute of Bagels, have broken ground for their storefront site in Corktown and expect to be up and running this summer."All urban environments have strong historical connections with bagels," says Ben Newman. "Every vibrant city has a bagel shop."
On Monday, Newman stood in his newly purchased hollowed-out building on Michigan. A couple of bulldozers unearthed the adjacent lot in preparation for a planned outdoor seating park that DIB will share with PJ's Lager House. ("Good people to have as neighbors," Newman says. Word is the feeling is mutual.)
