Katoi, the very popular Thai-inspired restaurant in Detroit's Corktown was on a roll for a while. In fact, the Detroit Free Press named Katoi the top new restaurant to open in 2016.

Then in February, a suspected arson fire shut the place the down.

Now, six months later, the Michigan Avenue restaurant is set to open Aug. 28.

Mark Kurlyandchik of the Freep writes: 

The first thing even casual passersby will notice is the 16-foot-high chain-link fence that now surrounds the entire building. (Katoi Chef Brad) Greenhill said this was actually planned before the fire as a way to separate the outdoor dining area from busy Michigan Avenue, but the added security measure is an added bonus.

In addition to the fire, Katoi had been broken into numerous times.
