Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw revved up fans at Ford Field Saturday night.

It was one of the biggest country music lineups in recent memory, and one of the biggest concert events to hit Detroit so far this year: a night that paired Chesney and McGraw, two of Nashville’s reigning superstars, for 48,000 party-primed fans.

Outside Ford Field, many had been gathered since Saturday morning, tailgating and building a buzz in nearby parking lots for what’s become a Chesney summer ritual.

Brian McCollum of the Free Press the concert "was another confirmation of modern country’s ever-diversifying audience. Amid the cowboy hats and boots were punk-rock T-shirts and flowery summer dresses, many fans sporting Hawaiian leis as they streamed in for Chesney’s beach-bummy fiesta."
