Turkia Mullin

The answer was pretty concise: Turkia Mullin, no lucrative pension for you.

The Detroit Free Press reports that the cash-strapped Wayne County Employee Retirement System has rejected the controversial former county Chief Development Officer's request for a pension that would have given her at least $100,000 a year.

John Wisely of the the Freep reports that Mullins fell short of the 20 years of service credits needed to qualify.

The Freep wrote:

The enhanced pension benefit was created by County Executive Robert Ficano and allowed appointees the chance to trade in their 401(k)-style retirement plans for a defined-benefit plan guaranteed by taxpayers.

"Our service investigation has determined that you do not have enough service credits to meet the 20-year minimum requirement for retirement under the executive incentive offer," Gerard Grysko, deputy director of the retirement system, wrote to Mullin in a Sept. 27 rejection letter obtained by the Free Press.
