Ralph Godbee, shown when he was Detroit's top cop, allegedly harassed an ex-girlfirend who's 18 years younger.

A past lover levels serious allegations at a former Detroit police chief, Mike Martindale reports for The Detroit News:

A Waterford Township woman has obtained a personal protection order against ex-Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee who she claims has been harassing and threatening her for several months.

She also claims he has been trying to use former contacts, including FBI personnel, to get information about her and her friends.

Godbee, 46, of Southfield was ousted as Detroit’s top cop in 2012 after a scandal in which he was alleged to have a sexual relationship with a female internal affairs officer he ultimately promoted. He could not be reached for comment Friday.

The new case involves Merica Patterson of Waterford Township, a 28-year-old who says she dated Godbee for about 18 months. He's now ordered by an Oakland Circuit Court not to contact or stalk her.

Patterson said for several months Godbee had been sending her e-mail, phone and text messages and “harassing me making threats ... through others.”

“He told me he can see anyone I talk to because he used his FBI contacts to monitor my phone,” wrote Patterson, who added Godbee has threatened to post pictures of her online and “on social media pages and harass people who are on my social media pages.”
