School districts in Metro Detroit are bracing for a new world.

"We'll get our team together and look at all of our safety procedures and our protocol," Madison Superintendent Randy Speck told WXYZ. "We'll go back through our crisis management plan, and make sure we haven't missed anything and learn from any lessons that we might be able to get from what happened in this terrible tragedy."

Troy, which will be reviewing procedures, will have police stepping up patrols around schools, starting Monday, WXYZ reported.

In Grosse Pointe Public schools, teachers on Monday at late-start time for students will meeting to discuss security practices in wake of the Connecticut shootings.

"I've asked the staff and administration to get together to review what took place in Connecticut and to review our practices," Dr.Thomas Harwood (pictured above), the district superintendent, told the station.

WXYZ reported that Detroit Public Schools left messages with parents Sunday night telling them security measures are already in place.
