Clowns can be entertaining or scary. In "Seinfeld," the unhinged character "Crazy Joe Davola" dressed up as a scary clown outside the opera and frightened Kramer.

Now, for some reason, there's a rash of reports of "creepy clowns" doing threatening things around the country.

Macomb County is dealing with some of those incidents, reports The Macomb Daily.

On Tuesday night,  a man dressed as a clown with a white face and red hair allegedly cut the arm of 7-year-old boy Justin Buechler around 6:50 p.m. on Normandy Street in the Sterling Estates mobile home park, Mitch Hotts of the Macomb Daily reports. He fled on foot.

About an hour later, the paper reports, three people in clown outfits and armed with baseball bats terrorized two people walking near 17 Mile and Ryan, the paper reports. Police told the paper the trio ran up behind the two walkers “screaming and yelling” and banging the bats on the sidewalk. The clowns fled on foot.

On Monday, a grainy video posted on Twitter showed a man in clown attire waving at passersby from a car wash on Moravian Drive and Cass Avenue in Clinton Township.

Online comments about that incident and others suggest that some sightings simply involve dressed-up Juggalos -- fans of  Insane Clown Posse, a hip-hop duo from Detroit.
