The couple appeared with their attorneys, Shannon Smith and Mariell Lehman, briefly in Oakland County's 52nd District Court Tuesday to reschedule their probable-cause hearing at the request of both the prosecution and the defense.

Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald, said the state was asking for more time in order not to inconvenience already traumatized witnesses around the holidays.

Judge Julie Nicholson set the new hearing date for Feb. 8.

Ethan Crumbley, 15, is accused of killing four schoolmates and wounding seven others Nov. 30. His parents are charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the incident; McDonald claimed at the time that the Crumbleys were so negligent in controlling their household firearms and in attending to their troubled son that the charges were justified

The school district is being sued separately in federal court on behalf of the family of one of the wounded students. Attorney Geoffrey Fieger seeks $100 million in damages.
