Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert, who recently got grief from community activists for attending a Donald Trump fundraiser in a building he owns in downtown Detroit, met with Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton in Detroit on Monday. Clinton was in town for a rally at Wayne State University.
The Clinton campaign confirmed the meeting, but Gilbert's camp declined to comment, Cleveland.com reports. The Gilbert people have said it's common for the boss to meet with presidential candidates when they campaign near him in Metro Detroit.
Community activists in Detroit were in an uproar after learning recently that Trump held a fundraiser in the Chrysler House in downtown Detroit, which Gilbert owns.
When word got out, his people were quick to say that the fundraiser was put on by the Michigan GOP, and that he has yet to publicly endorse either candidate.
A few days later it came out that Gilbert attended the fundraiser that raised money for both Trump and the Republican party.
Gilbert backed New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie in the primaries before he dropped out.
