In 2010, Dan Gilbert, owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, didn't hold back when the team's superstar LeBron James decided to play for the Miami Heat.

 

"This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown 'chosen one' sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And 'who' we would want them to grow-up to become," Gilbert wrote in an open letter to the fans. He went on to call James' departure a "cowardly betrayal."

Then in 2014, James wanted to return to the team.

Now, the fairly tale reunion is complete, with the Cavaliers winning the NBA Championship Sunday night, downing Golden State 93-89 in a Game 7 showdown.

After the victory in Oakland, Calif., Gilbert told ESPN Radio:

"The people of Cleveland deserve this more than any people I've ever seen, met or felt. Thank God that God loves Cleveland, Ohio."

"All I know is that no group deserves this more, no fan base deserves this more, and I'm speechless and proud of everybody. It's like a fantasy for everybody. And thank you, Cleveland, love you, Cleveland."
