Dan Gilbert
No question, Quicken Loans founder Dan Gilbert has a lot invested financially and emotionally in the NBA Finals with his team, the Cleveland Cavaliers, batting the Golden State Warriors.
Gilbert's team lost the first game of the series in Oakland on Thursday night in overtime, 108-100. The next game isn't until Sunday.
So Friday night Gilbert will take advantage of the break to pitch the Motor City to Silicon Valley in a fireside chat at 8:30 p.m. (EST) in San Francisco before a handpicked audience of sports, venture capital and tech leaders, WWJ reports.
He'll be talking to the owner of the Golden State Warriors, Joe Lacob, who is a partner at venture capital firm Kleiner, Perkins, Caufield & Byers.
WWJ reports that organizers of the “fireside chat” said Gilbert and Lacob will talk about, championship philosophy, investment strategy, the impact of technology on sports and highlight Detroit as the place to be for entrepreneurs.
The talk will be livestreamed on YouTube.
