Daniel Ferguson

If you're among the masses who believe that Kwame Kilpatrick and his buddy Bobby Ferguson are guilty of wrongdoing, you may think that Daniel Ferguson is living in a parallel universe. Or, perhaps he's just very very loyal.

Ferguson,  the brother-in-law of Kilpatrick and the cousin of Bobby Ferguson, can't for the life of him figure out what Kilpatrick and Bobby Ferguson did wrong.

Talking about Kilpatrick, he says to WDIV's Hank Winchester: "Can you tell me, or anybody tell me what he's convicted of."

As for the jury, he says: "The jury can go to wherever... because they didn't follow the letter of the law."

Ferguson, who is married to Kilpatrick's sister Ayana,  calls Kilpatrick a "political prisoner."

He said he's spoken to Kilpatrick and his cousin Bobby Ferguson.

He said Kilpatrick told him: "Just  keep my head up....This too shall pass."

He tells WDIV that Kilpatrick is convinced he'll win an appeal.

But he says Kilpatrick is having trouble both mentally and physically dealing with his injured knee and the reality that he may not see his family for a long long time. Sentencing is set for early September. Many have speculated that Kilpatrick will get between 15 to 20 years for his public corruption convictions.

Winchester reports that Daniel Ferguson has his own legal problems as well. He was arrested July 27 in St. Clair Shores for driving while impaired. He reportedly passed out behind the wheel of his truck while at a green light. -- Allan Lengel
