It was after midnight Sunday morning when Brenda Tucker, who suffered from depression, picked up a pistol, went into a back room in the East Sie bar where she worked and shot herself in the chest.
After the ambulance departed, her younger brother jumped into her car outside the bar and followed it to the hospital.
Neither made it there alive, Elisha Anderson reports in the Detroit Free Press.
Ricky Tucker, 20, was killed in a car crash early Sunday as he rushed to check on his 21-year-old sister, police and family told the Free Press on Sunday.
Both were at the Texas Bar & Grill, in the 14600 block of Kercheval, when Brenda Tucker, who suffers from depression, shot herself.
Ricky died at Woodhall and E. Warren on Detroit's East Side, not far from St. John Hospital. Police said his vehicle appeared to have crossed over the center line and struck an SUV, whose driver suffered minor injuries.
