The Conyers renewed vows Aug. 27

It surprised some when Congressman John Conyers and wife Monica recently renewed their vows while their divorce remained active in Wayne County Circuit Court.

The vows came on Saturday, Aug. 27 and they had a hearing on for their divorce on that Monday.

At that time, Daniel Findling, Monica Conyers's attorney, told he Detroit News that the Monday hearing was adjourned at each side's request “while we determine the proper course of the case … and explore the journey that the parties are taking.”

Now, it looks as if they still may get divorced.

Oralandar Brand-Williams of the Detroit News reports that two November trial dates were scheduled Friday for further hearings into the divorce proceedings.

John Conyer's attorney Arnold Reed, tells the News “at this point it looks like the parties are headed for trial.”

Attorney Findling, says the court dates “just means the parties are conflicted and were not certain where the journey will end.”
