Metro Detroit: A Competitive Market for Hyper-Speed Internet

High-speed Internet rivalries escalate in Metro Detroit, The Detroit News reports. 

Louis Auguilar writes that downtown Detroit has become one of the leaders in ultra-fast Internet with two Michigan startups -- Dan Gilbert's Rocket Fiber and Lansing based LightSpeed Communications offering speeds 1,000 faster than those being offered in the area. 

Now Comcast plans a similar service this year throughout its cMetro Detroit overage areas, The News says. Tthe region will be among the first offered the service by Comcast’s Xfinity.

 “We are part of the movement to make Detroit a tech hub. We want it to be a game-changer," Rocket Fiber CEO Marc Hudson tells the paper.
