Detroit boy, 13, charged with manslaughter in shooting death of cousin

A 13-year-old boy has been charged with manslaughter for allegedly killing his 12-year-old cousin while playing with a gun Tuesday.  

The incident happened around 9 pm at a home on Bramell Street near Outer Drive and Plymouth, the Wayne County Prosecutor Office said. The boy was found in the basement with a gunshot wound to the chest and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police initially said the boys may have been engaged in a social media stunt and that two 19-year-olds were also present. An adult was sleeping upstairs.

The 13-year-old was give a $10,000/10% bond and is due back in court Aug.16.
