Labor leaders told the Detroit City Council Monday what they think about the 10-percent wage cuts Mayor Dave Bing has imposed on them to help the city out of its current fiscal crisis. 

They don't like it.

 Bing administration officials also showed up, to make their case for $100 million in cuts from city workers, which would include reduced pensions and higher out-of-pocket health care costs in addition to wage cuts.

Last week the city’s financial advisory board, made up of appointees of Bing, the City Council, Gov. Rick Snyder and state Treasurer Andy Dillon, approved the mayor’s proposal to impose new employment terms. The council gets a chance to sign off on the changes, but even if the council rejects them, the city can ultimately impose the new terms.
