A Detroit cop responded to the scene early Sunday morning after his 20-year-old son was robbed and carjacked at a coney island on Puritan near Telegraph on the city's west side.

Travon Standifer tells WXYZ that four young men walked up and punched him, took his food  and keys and drove off with his 2011 Ford Focus. He suffered a broken hand and got eight stitches.

His mother came out to the Coney Island, according to the victim, and he had her call his father -- who came in a police car in about three minutes.

The officer drove his son to Sinai Grace Hospital where he was treated for bruises. A surveillance camera at the restaurant was not working.
