The city of Detroit on Monday widened Covid vaccine access to anyone 18 or older living or working in the city who has to report to their job site.
Additionally, anyone 16 or older with disabilities or underlying medical conditions is now eligible.
To get a TCF Center appointment for the free coronavirus protection, call (313) 230-0505 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. weekdays.
Previously, only specific categories of workers reporting to a job site -- such as teachers, postal workers, food handlers and manufacturing employees -- were eligible for the free shots.
As for the general population, residents 50 or older also qualify.
Employers who line up at least 100 employees in advance can request that the Detroit Health Department to conduct on-site vaccinations.

Chief Public Health Officer Denise Fair said the Detroit Health Department still awaits confirmation that its first Johnson & Johnson vaccines will arrive next week.
Once it has confirmation, the city will announce a date for the start of a second mass vaccination site at the Northwest Activities Center. 18100 Meyers Rd. The new site is expected to open by month's end.
“We look forward to receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccines so we can provide our residents another highly effective vaccine. Detroiters will now have the option to select which vaccine they receive and where they receive it,” said Fair.
Additionally, a mass vaccination program at Ford Field begins Wednesday, run by the Federal Emergency Management Administration until May 19. Air Force reservists will help give at least 5,000 shots a day from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
