The list goes on, according to Fox 2's Taryn Asher.
The Engine 5 firehouse at Cass and Alexandrine in Detroit has a host of problems:
- Smoke detectors and a fire alarm don't work.
- Carbon monoxide detectors aren't installed.
- The sprinkler system hasn't been checked since 1998.
- Old ventilation hoses don't fit new ambulances. That means firefighters breathe diesel fumes inside the station, Fox 2 reports.
Fox 2 reports that a sergeant in charge of Engine 5 was sick of his complaints being ignored for months and filed a complaint on Monday with the state agency, Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which works to prevent workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities.
