DETROIT FIREWORKS_2019

Detroit's fireworks show in 2019.
For the second year in a row, the Detroit's annual fireworks celebration will pop off over a closed suburban park to deter crowds.
The announcement that the event will remain TV-only and be held at Lake St. Clair Metropark in Harrison Township comes as Detroit lags the state in vaccinations. A spokesman for the mayor indicated however that the decision was made months ago, before it was clear just how much restrictions would ease by the June 28 show.
The event is expected to be back at the Detroit River next year, the Parade Company tells the Associated Press.
