A new mascot has appeared on the streets of Detroit.

Its name: Detroit Kryo.

Detroit Kryo is hard to miss, as the attached video from WDIV-TV clearly shows: In costume and stilts, DK is nearly 8-feet-tall, with a deep blue costume made up of 2,600 LED lights and two "guns" that shoot harmless CO2 smoke.

The person behind DK is Kevin Niezurawski, an electrician who made the 45-pound costume by hand. It cost $2,000 and took 70 hours to create -- the gizmo has 15,000 solder points.

"I'm just a fan of Detroit," Niezurawski said. "Let's just say I'm the mascot of Detroit."
