The Detroit International Festival of Animation will screen 22 short animated films Friday and Saturday at Tangent Gallery/Hastings Ballroom, 715 E Milwaukee in Detroit's New Center area.
The website says that the festival will showcase a diversity of animations from animators and filmmakers locally and internationally. It will feature just over 90 minutes of animated shorts ranging from experimental to quirky as well as more sophisticated mini features.
The festival will also have a gallery of animation and comic inspired art and an expo of local artists, animators, zine publishers and comic creators.
The festival will have a full bar for pop, beer and mixed drinks.
Admission is $10; $5 matinee Sat 5 p.m.
Schedule:
- Friday: Expo 6 p.m.-midnight, showings 7 and 9 p.m.
- Saturday: Expo 4 p.m.-midnight, showing 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.
