In what a judge describes as "the court's worst nightmare," a man out on bond for assaulting his girlfriend allegedly sought her out and killed her and another man Sunday night in Harper Woods.

Magistrate Dawn White set a $100,000 bond for Jonathan Welch when he was charged in June with assault and other crimes in Detroit.
Welch, 23, was released from the Wayne County jail last week and ordered to wear an electronic tether after a bail agency provided 10% of the bond amount.
He also had been ordered to live with his mother in Harper Woods, according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. The Prosecutor's Office also said that it intended to argue for higher bond at Welch's preliminary examination that was scheduled for Aug. 4.
It was at that same home that Zlayiah Frazier, 22, of Roseville and Robert Bray Jr., 70, were killed, and Welch's mother found stabbed in the back. Welch then held police at bay in a standoff that lasted several hours. A one-year-old child was rescued from the back yard of the home.
The assault in June was particularly violent. Welch is said to have strangled and sexually assaulted Frazier, as well as pouring gasoline on her body and burning her with a hot spatula.
He is now charged with "two counts of first-degree murder, four counts of assault with intent to murder, one count of second-degree arson, seven counts of felonious assault, and six counts of felony firearm," the News reports. He is being held without bond.
