A Detroit man targeted by a group of would-be robbers returned gunfire and killed a teenager Saturday night.

The 50-year-old man was at his car at the Grandland shopping center on Grand River Avenue at Fenkell Avenue, just west of the Southfield freeway, when four young men approached him. They demanded the man get out of his car. Before he could get out, shots were fired.

A 17-year-old, who was one of the four who confronted him, was shot and killed.
