Robert Chambers
Robert Chambers, 43, of Detroit thought there was a solid chance he'd die from Covid. The airport bus driver spent 2 1/2 weeks in intensive care at Beaumont Hospital in Farmington Hills, and was on a ventilator before being released April 14.
Only about 30 percent of patients on ventilators survive, some reports.
In his most painful moments, Chambers said he found both strength and friendship with respiratory therapist Jason Pagaduan, who he says comforted him and provided inspiration, reports Simon Shaykhet of WYXZ.
“Jason really turned things around for me, the first time he came down and talked to me. I still didn’t really understand all I went through.” Chambers said.
“It was really like being attacked. I was going through all these different dream scenarios and I thought a year had passed when they woke me up,” he said.
Now, Chambers and Pagaduan stay in touch regularly and have struck up a friendship, WXYZ reports.
