Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, who walked a fine line during the past election -- trying to be true to his party while not harming his relationship in Lansing -- will emcee Gov. Rick Snyder’s second inauguration on Jan. 1.
In announcing Duggan's role, Snyder's office issued a press release:
In a display of continued partnership, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan will serve as the master of ceremonies during Gov. Rick Snyder and Lt. Gov. Brian Calley’s inauguration ceremony at the state Capitol on Jan. 1.
“Mayor Duggan has been a great partner in the effort to reinvent our state and the city of Detroit and I’m honored to have him emcee the upcoming inauguration,” Snyder said. “Jan. 1 will be a day where we’ll celebrate how far our state has come and the next steps to keep Michigan’s comeback going strong and building a strong, thriving state for now and future generations.”
