Instead, the unidentified Detroit officer volunteered as a test subject during a roadside sobriety testing demonstration. Kimberly Craig of WXYZ tells what happened:

A Detroit Police officer is at the center of an internal investigation after he showed up under the influence of alcohol to training in Lansing, Detroit Police Chief James Craig told reporters.

Michigan State Police say it was discovered after the officer volunteered to be part of a demonstration on Breathalyzer training. . . . The officer at the training facility in Lansing blew a .08, said Chief Craig.

The unarmed rookie hadn't driven to the law enforcement academy, so troopers running the class just told his supervisors.

Lesson learned the hard way by a probabionary officver (not for long?): Know when to stand up and try and when to stay quiet and be shy.
