The Detroit People Mover, which had been closed since June 12 for maintenance work, is reopening earlier than anticipated.
The People Mover, which was expected to reopen on Monday, went back into operation on Friday instead, three days earlier than scheduled, the city announced.
“We’re happy to reopen early for our patrons, thanks to the efforts of the employees and contractors on our project team,” General Manager Barbara Hansen, Detroit Transportation Corporation, said in a statement. “Mobility, accessibility and convenience are always benefits of public transportation, and the People Mover will continue to make system improvements in order to be that resource for residents, workers and visitors.”
