In late February, the Wall Street Journal published a story titled: "They Were the Worst Team in Basketball. Now They’re the Biggest Surprise in NBA History."
Now, that horrible team of the past is headed for the NBA playoffs for the first time since the 2018-19 season.
On Friday night, the Pistons clinched a spot in the playoffs by beating the Toronto Raptors in an away game, 117-105. Their record is 43-34.
The team has talent, and so does Coach J.B. Bickerstaff, who is credited with helping turn the team around. He's been mentioned as a candidate for NBA Coach of the Year.
Last year, the Detroit Pistons won a total of 14 games and ended up in last place in the Eastern Conference.
