The white Detroit police officer who ridiculed a young black woman for her race in a Snapchat post last month has been fired.

Officer Gary Steele was booted by Chief James Craig following an investigation, The Detroit News reports.

Craig said he fired Steele during a hearing Tuesday for three offenses. He said Steele faced 24 allegations, and that internal affairs officers sustained 11 of the allegations.

Craig said Garrison's termination hearing is scheduled for next week. The chief did not indicate whether he plans to fire Garrison.

Craig said Wednesday his investigators interviewed several people and the probe uncovered 3 cases of Steele lying to police officials, two policy violations involving the actions on the video itself and other instances of Steele acting inappropriately toward other black citizens he'd encountered in separate incidents.

Steele and his partner Michael Garrison were both suspended with pay after the post was obtained by WXYZ. Garrison faces a termination hearing next week.

In the video, Steele and Garrison can be heard mocking 23-year-old Ariel Steele as she walks home after a traffic stop, muttering "priceless," "walk of shame," and "bye Felicia." Steele then posted the video to Snapchat with the stickers "what black girl magic looks like" and "celebrating black history month."

The incident sparked national outcry and prompted some Detroit community leaders and politicians to call for Steele's immediate removal. Craig urged patience, however, saying that without a full investigation any firing could be overturned in union arbitration.

Moore plans to sue over the incident, =The News reports. Her lawyer is Geoffrey Feiger.
