Detroit Police held an unusual vigil for fallen Officer Brian Huff early Friday morning, and retired his scout car number, 5-14.

WXYZ-TV reports the code was read over the police radio at 3:50 a.m. and then retired for all time.

Officers listened on their radios, offered prayers, and a moment of silence during the memorial gathering on Schoenherr and Edmore.

Officer Huff was shot and killed there three years ago as he responded to reports of shots fired. Four other officers suffered gunshot wounds, but survived.
