Detroit Precinct Goofs with Ticket Quotas Order

Someone goofed.

WXYZ's Jim Kiertzner reports that this directive was given to patrol officers in Detroit's 11th Precinct on Tuesday: "Every Scout car is required to make 3 traffic stops per shift and issue 6 tickets."

The department backed off, saying the directive is wrong and will be looked into. Department policy and state law ban traffic citation quotes, the city police union says, . 

Capt. Timothy Leach of the northeast Detroit precinct, whose name is on the directive, tells the station that he suggested ticket levels but didn't intend for it to end up as a directive.
