Here's a smart way to promote a neighborhood in Detroit and stimulate real estate sales.
In what has become an annual event -- this is the 11th -- the Grandmont Rosedale Communities in northwest Detroit hosts a neighborhood open house on Sunday, May 15 to show off homes for sale and promote the area.
Bus tours, narrated by local residents, will run rom 1-5 p..m.. Visitors can see up to 15 homes listed for $60,000 to $150,000, according to a release.
After guests register at the North Rosedale Park Community House, 18445 Scarsdale, they'll get a listing of homes open that day and information on financing options, insurance and tax abatements.
“The first thing I noticed when I drove into the neighborhood were the beautiful homes -- some grand and some modest, but all of them well-kept," said Peter Fletcher, a classical guitarist who relocated recently to Detroit from New York, in the press release. "The community is just what I was looking for and I love having a very active civic association.”
The neighborhood has gotten help in recent years from millions of dollars in investments by foundations, the city and the Detroit Land Bank Authority.
