Tiffani Eaton-Davis, the Detroit school teacher who was fired after using a broom to break up a fight at Pershing High School in 2014, has settled her federal lawsuit with the Education Achievement Authority.
The board has agreed to settle out of court for $390,000, Ann Zaniewski of the Detroit Free Press writes.
Eaton-Davis sued the school district, alleging it violated her civil rights and failed to warn her about the "violent conditions" at Pershing High School, the Freep reports.
A cell phone video showed two students brawling and Eaton-Davis striking one with a broom in an attempt to break up a fight. She had tried to use a walkie-talkie to summon help, but no one came.
After being fired, the district reversed course and said she could return to school, but she declined, the Freep reports.
