Malcolm Ray Hardy, 16, of Detroit, is charged as an adult in the slaying of a five-year-old boy, his mother and her boyfriend. Each victim was shot multiple times.
“This case is yet another stark reminder of why there should always be options for prosecutors when the facts allege unspeakable premeditated violence by a juvenile," Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Friday. "The allegations in this case warrant charging the defendant as an adult.”
On Feb. 18, the bodies of Aaron Benson, 32, his girlfriend LaShon Marshall, 28, and her five-year-old son Caleb Harris were discovered inside a home in the 15300 block of Evergreen on Detroit's west side. A cousin of Benson's discovered the bodies.
Hardy is charged with three counts of felony murder, three counts of first-degree premeditated murder, two counts of armed robbery and eight counts of felony firearm. A warrant request for another teen male suspect was denied because of insufficient evidence.
