Toron Murphy, a senior at Martin Luther King High School in Detroit who played on his school's football team that won the Detroit Public School League Championship last fall, was headed for a bright future.
That's all gone.
Fox2's Taryn Asher reports that his mother dropped him off to school on Tuesday. Toron, 17, never made it inside.
"Fed the dog and then he went out to start up my car and get me into a warm car, and I got in the car and I drove him to school," his mother Marcia Murphy told Fox2. "I dropped him off in front of the school and pulled off, and soon after I pulled off they called me and said he never made it in the door."
He collapsed outside the school and was taken to the hospital where he died a short time later.
Fox2 reports that he died of natural causes, but it was unclear on Tuesday of the exact cause of death. Fox2 reported that he was in good health.
