The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department is now taking aim at businesses.
After aggressively going after residential customers, and cutting off thousands from service who had delinquent bills, the department is putting businesses on notice, reports Steve Pardo of the Detroit News.
The department is sending letters to about 200 businesses warning that their services will be shut off if they don't pay their bills. Those customers include the state of Michigan and Vargo Golf and Mount Olivet Cemetery, the News reports.
Since March, the city has shut off about15,000 Detroit residences, but many had service restored after payment plans were arranged, the News reported.
