Those who enjoyed or missed the 2012 film "Detropia" get another chance to see it -- for free, this time.
It'll be on Detroit Public TV (WTVS, Channel 56) at 9 p.m. Monday, Julie Hinds advises in the Free Press. The rest of America has to wait until May 27, when the documentary airs on PBS' “Independent Lens” seies.
This elegant, melancholy documentary by filmmakers Heidi Ewing (who grew up in metro Detroit) and Rachel Grady gives its heart to the Motor City the way people do when they simultaneously love and worry about something. Ewing and Grady turn their sharp, sensitive eyes to the hits that Detroit has taken from the shift to a global economy.
