The historic Emerald Theatre in downtown Mount Clemens, closed since 2014, is slated to make a comeback, the Macomb Daily reports.
John Hanna of Royal Oak-based Hanna Development & Management, which owns the theater, plans to restore the building, which was last known as the Macomb Music Theater, Mitch Hotts of the Macomb Daily reports. It will once again be called the Emerald Theatre.
The paper reports that Hanna plans to install a new marquee on the front of the building “that will light up the whole street,” and open by late fall or early winter.
Hanna plans to book concerts and comic shows and offer the building for weddings and bar mitzvahs.
The owner also plans to revive Johnny G's bar, whiich shares a wall and kitchen with the Emerald building, and was part of the theater purchase, the paper reports. It will converted to a Mexican restaurant.
