The Michigan Department of Natural Resources hunted down and killed a bear in northern Michigan as if it were a member of al Qaeda.
The question is: Did the agency kill the right bear?
Zlati Meyer of the Detroit Free Press rerports that the grandfather of the 12-year-old Wexford County girl attacked by a black bear last week thinks the DNR killed the wrong bear over the weekend.
“It was a real large bear,” Dave Wetherell, 66, on Sunday told the Freep. “But I don‘t believe it was the same bear. This one here was between 400-500 pounds, the one they killed last night. They feel like the one who attacked Abby was 150 pounds.”
His granddaughter Abigail Wetherell was attacked Thursday near Cadillac while she was out running around. The Feep reports she was treated at a Traverse City Hospital after suffering serious cuts and puncture wounds and was released Sunday. -- A.L.
