For seven years since the death of her husband, Linda Dash, Dr. Bernard Dash's widow, remained determined to restore a southwest Detroit clinic to her husband's mission to treat needy patients.
On Monday, according to Marney Rich Keenan of the Detroit News, that determination paid off. The aptly named Hope Urgent Care celebrated with an open house, an inflated play structure and visits from community leaders.
Rep. Hansen Clarke, a Democrat whose 13th district includes southwest Detroit, told a packed waiting room, "To have a clinic that was once closed like so many businesses in our community now reopen is cause for celebration. It speaks to the tenacity and commitment of Mrs. Dash and gives us all hope for the future."
After years of searching, Dash recently entered into an agreement with Hope Urgent Care franchise, which has facilities in Davison and Romulus. Dr. Nusrat Javaid, president of Hope Urgent Care and an emergency medicine physician for the University of Michigan Health System, said he was especially eager to offer exams for the affordable price of $35.
