UM Professor Kate Andrias is among signers.

More than 1,700 law professors so far have signed a letter urging the Senate to reject U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Brett Kavanaugh's nomination to the Supreme Court.

Among them are nearly three dozen legal educators from the University of Michigan, Michigan State, Wayne State and the University of Detroit Mercy.

The letter, published in The New York Times, will be presented to the Senate on Thursday. It says, in part: 

We have differing views about the other qualifications of Judge Kavanaugh. But we are united, as professors of law and scholars of judicial institutions, in believing that he did not display the impartiality and judicial temperament requisite to sit on the highest court of our land.
