"Who gave the order? Who gave the order for a Detroit police commissioner to be followed, and what resources were used to follow" Rev. Jerome Warfield, chairman of the Board of Police Commissioners, asks Charlie LeDuff of Fox 2 Detroit.
While wrestling for the soul of the Detroit Police Department over the past several months, Warfield, a Bing appointee and a minister, realized he was being followed.
"I know very clearly if someone is tailing me or not by how I drive, and so I've seen people at my homes, both of my homes, and one I was sure was a department individual because they had a department paraphernalia hat on in a municipal car," Warfield said.
Bing's office released a statement: "After checking with DPD, we can affirm that no Detroit police officer has been authorized to follow any member of the Board of Police Commissioners."
