Mark Diaz: "How are we going to compete?"

Detroit Police Officers Association President Mark Diaz, whose job includes watching out for the reputation of police officers, is in trouble.
He's charged with malicious destruction of property and reckless driving and is suspended without pay after being arraigned Friday in Clarkston, reports Jonathan Carlson of WXYZ.
Diaz is accused of driving into a building at the Holly Academy in Holly with his union-issued vehicle while he was alone last Dec. 20 and causing thousands of dollars in damage.
Diaz, who lives nearby, released this statement:
“We’re surprised there are charges on this, but we’ll definitely work with the justice system to get the matter adjudicated as possible and we’ll cooperate 100%. I’m very surprised by charges on this."
